But this one preferred to abandon scissors and corkscrews when he caught the demon of the “adjustable wrench” at the age of 12.
It was during this period that his curiosity led him to develop a passion for mechanics. He then began to dissect, like a forensic scientist, scooter and motorcycle engines in order to look for the fault in a particular organ, or to explain a breakdown or malfunction.

It is therefore logical, with the blessing of his parents, that he turned to mechanical studies, integrating the CFA (Apprentice Training Center) of Lézignan, where he is currently in the second year of BTS. , work-study in a Carcassonne company. The latter was selected, along with other students, educated in the Occitanie region to participate in the WorldSkills regional selections.
National Finals in September
This competition allows young apprentices to measure their know-how in around sixty professions. The regional selection test took place in Lézignan. Charly competed in the “automotive technology” branch, with a test which consisted of a limited time and in real situation under the supervision of a jury, to solve technical difficulties, and to carry out diagnostics on the injection, the trains bearings and the electrical part of a motor.
At the end of this selection, 22 apprentices from the Region won medals, 7 won gold including Charly, 10 silver and 5 bronze. The award ceremony for the regional selections took place at the Dôme in April.
The national finals will take place in Lyon in September and the world finals in September 2024.
With the approach of these next deadlines, the students have integrated a course of technical, mental and physical preparation in Mulhouse as well as at the Creps in Toulouse, as high-level athletes would do.
Unfortunately, Charly will not be able to compete in this new competition for personal reasons, but there is no doubt that his skills and his passion will allow him to flourish professionally in this activity.
