Spotify’s New Feature ‘Your Offline Mix’: Listen to Music Without an Internet Connection

Spotify is testing a new feature called ‘Your Offline Mix’. With this function you will be able to continue listening to music even if you do not have an internet connection. To be clear, this concerns music that you have not downloaded in advance, because that possibility has of course existed for some time.

It is Spotify CEO Daniel EK himself who shared a print screen of the new function that the music streaming service is working on. On it we see ‘You Spotify Mix’ with the accompanying explanation “A mix of recently played songs for when the vibe is good, but the connection is bad”. The playlist in the print screen is 3.5 hours long, although it is not clear whether that will be the case for everyone.

Without downloading

At the moment you can already download certain playlists or albums on Spotify so that you can also listen to them offline. This function is very useful as a backup if you suddenly have internet problems, but also for example on airplanes when you travel.

However, this function has the disadvantage that you always have to remember to download the right songs in advance. However, many people regularly discover new music and don’t immediately download it. If suddenly there is no internet, you are limited in what you can listen to.

Your Offline Mix

That’s why Spotify is currently testing ‘Your Offline Mix’, a feature that it would develop since 2020. It is not immediately clear when the new feature will be rolled out worldwide. Since Ek himself has now announced the news about it, we suspect that the official release will not be long in coming. On social media, people who can already test the feature are already responding very positively.
