2023 has begun and with it come numerous premieres, whether in the field of music, reading or cinema. Despite the eagerness of the population waiting to consume new content that keeps so many fans on edge, other classics continue to position themselves as favorites. It happens in all the arts; there is always a production that captivates to a greater extent and ends up writing the name of its author in the historical lists.
In the music this is obvious. The networks, in addition, are an additional component when it comes to making themselves known. A good viral video, the recommendation of an already established artist or a musical collaboration are several of the reasons why younger singers -or not so much- end up making the leap to the international scene in a short time. However, the way to grow and retain their audience in the case of the platforms in charge of supplying the music market is quite another. Continuous improvements and innovations are needed so as not to tire users who pay their subscription every month not only to enjoy their favorite artists in the order they want, but also to be surprised.
Spotify It is one of the most famous applications for playing music today, as well as being an indicator of current trends. The application has several initiatives that surprise its subscribers more every day, such as personalized playlists, the greatest hits or the ‘Spotify Wrapped’. The public goes crazy every year with the revelation of its most listened to artists, as well as the total minutes played and the list that orders the most played songs of each user. The fever around ‘Wrapped’ multiplied as of 2019 -although its launch dates back to 2016-, when the company redesigned the concept and proposed it in a much more interactive way, similar to the Snapchat and Instagram stories.
But the company is not running out of ideas. Under the name of ‘Playlist in a bottle’ –’Playlist for my Future Self’ in Spanish’, Spotify has just released this new playlist “to send a musical time capsule to your future self”. It should be noted that if you access this function from a computer, a qr code will appear on the screen to access this kind of game from your mobile phone. As soon as we start, the message is clear: Said musical list will no longer be open until 2024. From then on -and without revealing all the surprises included-, the interface will begin to ask you various questions about what you want keep more than 365 days.
