Spotify Set to Launch Supremium with High-Quality Audio Feature

Jakarta

Spotify looks like it will launch a high-quality audio feature in the near future. This long-awaited feature will be bundled with a new package rumored to be called ‘Supremium‘.

Technology expert Chris Messina found a reference to the name Supremium in a line of Spotify application code. He also shared the logo for the new plan, which consists of the Spotify logo with the text ‘Supremium’ next to it.

In his post on Threads, Messina said the Supremium package will offer features such as 24-bit lossless audio, 20-30 hours of free audiobooks, Last.fm-style song listening statistics, creating playlists using AI, advanced mixing tools, and a personalization service called ‘Your Sound Capsule’.

The features above sound interesting, but the highlight is Spotify’s long-promised lossless audio. Lossless audio was initially rumored to be available under the name ‘Spotify HiFi’ but it looks like the brand has been changed to Supremium.

However, the information shared by Messina is not something new. Last September, Reddit user Hypixely also found similar information that was more complete than that shared by Messina.

That post on Reddit claims lossless audio in Spotify will not be disturbed by lag or delay. The post also mentions a new feature called Soundcheck which will look at a user’s song listening habits and create a unique song mix for the user.

But Messina discovered this feature is now named as ‘Your Sound Capsule’. He estimates that this feature is related to the time capsule experience that Spotify launched at the beginning of last year, as quoted from TechCrunch, Monday (9/10/2023).

Spotify itself has not made an official announcement regarding this feature. A Spotify spokesperson said it was reluctant to comment on speculation about new features and had no new information to share at this time.

Messina said the launch date for the Supremium package is still unclear, but there are indications that this service will be launched at the end of 2023. When launched, this package will likely be priced at USD 19.99 per month.
