On Instagram, Rogan apologizes for the statements he made. “There are a lot of things from old episodes of my podcast that I wish I had never said, or said differently.”
In a video, Rogan says he finds the things he has said “deplorable and shameful.” According to Rogan, he never used the n-word to be racist. “I’m not racist, but if you’re in a situation where you have to say that about yourself, you screwed up. I clearly screwed up.” The presenter “wishes he could take back his words”.
disinformation
Rogan’s podcast has been under fire for some time for spreading misinformation about the coronavirus and vaccines. His show The Joe Rogan Experience, which averages 11 million listeners per episode, critics say is spreading untruths about the coronavirus and vaccination.
Earlier, Spotify announced that it would “guide listeners of podcasts about Covid-19 to learn more” about the pandemic. To this end, the streaming service will create a “dedicated Covid-19 Hub” that will be added to any podcast that contains a discussion about the virus. Listeners are then directed to “data-driven facts, as shared by scientists, doctors, academics and health authorities around the world, as well as links to trusted sources”.
Several musicians such as Neil Young and Joni Mitchell have removed their music from Spotify in protest against Rogan’s podcast. “It’s Rogan or Young, but not both”, the Canadian musician announced his intention.
