Spotify releases paid podcast subscriptions in the Netherlands and Belgium – Image and sound – News

Spotify released its Podcast Subscription feature in the Netherlands and Belgium on Wednesday. This allows podcast makers to offer subscriptions for additional paid content on the platform. The feature was already available in the United States.

Spotify brings the Podcast Subscription feature out on wednesday in 29 different countries, including the Netherlands and Belgium. The feature allows podcasters to offer monthly subscriptions that allow paying customers to listen to additional podcast episodes. The feature becomes available via Spotify’s podcastplatform Anchor. Anchor podcasts can also be listened to on other platforms.

Podcast creators can choose from different monthly subscription prices. In the US, the cheapest plan is 49 cents, and the most expensive option is $150 per month. Spotify does not currently report euro prices, but does write that three paid podcasts will be available in the Netherlands on Wednesday. The monthly rates for this are 1 or 4 euros. It is not possible to adjust the price afterwards, Spotify previously reported.

Podcast creators keep full subscription revenue for the first two years. After that period, Spotify charges a commission of five percent. Podcasters can also download a list of email addresses of subscribers who have given permission for this, for example to get in touch with paying listeners.
