Spotify’s iOS developers have finally made the effort to use the iOS 16 lock screen by offering it a widget. You can now drag the Spotify icon under the clock block and use it as a shortcut to open the app.
This will be redundant with the playback control block that appears when a song is playing and also serves as a shortcut, but without the latter on the screen, the widget can be handy. If it’s not much it’s still better than Apple Music whose app does not offer anything for this screen.
The opportunity also to note that Spotify is testing a rearrangement of its home screen. If the two settings and recent listening icons have suddenly disappeared from your home, look for them in a new side pane accessible from the left of the screen.
It also contains the Profile section. The latter can display much more info but not everyone has it yet. Not all Spotify have this navigation interface either, it is also in the evaluation phase.
