At the beginning of October, the music streaming giant Spotify announced that subscribers of the paid or Premium plan will get the opportunity to listen to audiobooks for free for 15 hours a month. Now the company has told a little more about this extra, and also promises to offer it to a wider range of users.
Spotify has announced that paying users in the US will now be able to listen to free audiobooks. Listeners in Great Britain and Australia were the first to receive this benefit. It is expected that by the end of the year, this option will reach a much wider range of users.
The company points out that users do not have to do anything themselves to be able to listen to audiobooks for free. Audiobooks that are available for streaming are marked as “Included in Premium” and users can play them instantly. Spotify notes that 15 hours is enough time to listen to two average audiobooks. If the user reaches this limit, it will be possible to purchase 10 hours for an additional fee.
When it comes to the audiobook content available, Spotify says there’s something for everyone. Premium users have access to 70% of Spotify’s 200,000 audiobook library. Their range includes today’s most popular audiobooks, such as Britney Spears’ The Woman in Me. Lovers of classics and romance, as well as those who crave motivation and inspiration, will also find something for themselves.
