Spotify has announced that a major change is coming to the platform, but only for certain users.

Spotify shared that they improved the listening experience by separating the Shuffle and Play buttons, but there’s a catch.

This is because the new feature will only be available to Spotify Premium users, which means you will need to be a paying customer.

Previously there was a combine button which for this playlist would automatically shuffle and have the albums played in chronological order.

But for those who are eligible for the upgrade, they will be able to decide which mode they prefer at the top of all playlists and albums, allowing them to listen however they want.

Spotify shared the news on its blog saying, “Whether you love the joy of the unexpected with Shuffle mode, or prefer listening to tracks in order with just a press of play, Spotify has you covered.”

The update will affect iOS and Android mobile devices, but only for Spotify Premium users worldwide, with an expected rollout in the coming weeks.
