Spotify introduces new offline function

Spotify has introduced a new feature called “Offline Backup,” which it has been testing with select users for a while and says it has received positive feedback. In the end it’s more like a new playlist on Spotify.

What is it about? Spotify uses your cache and creates a suitable playlist from it. The idea is that you get a new playlist that only appears in offline mode and that presents you with songs that you haven’t downloaded.

At least not active, because the songs are streamed to your device when played and can be played offline for a while. This means that a song does not have to be streamed again every time it is played, which uses less data.

The new “Offline Backup” provides you with a mix of songs that you have heard but not saved; you can also specify the genre. The function is only for Spotify premium users, more details is available on the Spotify blog.
