Spotify changes and becomes more like a social network

There is one more application that has been tempted by the charms of TikTok. This is Spotify which, in the biggest update of the last decade, reveals, among others, a vertical feed similar to that of the Chinese social network through which you can scroll.

In addition to this novelty, the streamer also reveals the arrival of Smart Shuffle for recommending playlists and an automatic play feature for podcasts. As you would expect, not all new bets will be available for the free plan, as is the case with the smart shuffle, which can only be used in premium mode.

According to Spotify, the changes come to make the interface more interactive, but it can also be a long-term bet that allows for greater investment in advertising, similar to what Instagram did with the introduction of Reels.

Updates are arriving at intervals in different parts of the world, and Portugal will not yet be part of the range of countries to receive these features. In the US and Canada, for example, premium users will be entitled to a DJ created by artificial intelligence that announces the songs that will play next.
