(CNN) — Popular apps like Spotify, Pinterest and Tinder crashed on iPhones on Friday in what appeared to be a widespread outage linked to a Facebook.
Reports of malfunctions fired in DownDetector, a service monitoring site, around 7:30 am Friday (Miami time), and users and developers expressed their frustrations on social media.
At 10:30 AM, Facebook He said in his developer forum that a bug in his iOS Software Development Kit (SDK) had been resolved, about eight hours after he began investigating the increase in glitches.
Many app developers use this SDK to allow people to use their Facebook login information to log in to other apps, although users did not have to be using Facebook login to be affected.
It was a frustrating Friday for developers and users of these apps, especially since a similar outage linked to the Facebook SDK occurred in May, according to the technology news site The Verge.
