The presentation of the Sports Trophies took place on Tuesday evening at Château Montauriol. The opportunity to salute the vitality of the Tarn-et-Garonne athletes and to learn that the Olympic flame will pass through the department in 2024.
There was a crowd on Tuesday evening in the gardens of Château Montauriol for the presentation of the Department’s sports trophies. President of the departmental council, Michel Weill took the opportunity to recall the involvement of the community, which injected €2.3 million in 2022 in terms of sport. “The Department is the main funder of sports committees, for the purchase of equipment, the organization of events, support for high-level teams and school sports sections (UNSS). »
The Olympic flame at Sapiac
“The Tarn-et-Garonne land of games 2024”. The slogan took on its full relevance with the announcement of the passage of the Olympic flame in the department in 2024. “We applied and Brigitte Barèges agreed to collaborate with the departmental council for the success of this operation. We will probably receive the flame at the Sapiac stadium after it has passed through Tarn-et-Garonne”, rejoiced Michel Weill.
Jean-Michel Baylet brought him a touch of nostalgia. “With my friend Jean-Claude Bardet, we created this sports festival 36 years ago. If the sports movement is so rich in Tarn-et-Garonne, the Department has something to do with it. It is no coincidence that there is such enthusiasm for the sport. »
