On the plane back to London, defender Micky Van de Ven was watching a video on his phone. A cameraman approached the Dutchman and discovered that he was reviewing the assist he had given to Brennan Johnson for Tottenham’s first goal in the victory against Manchester United.
In the goal, Van de Ven traveled more than sixty meters with the ball attached to his foot, reaching the baseline and placing a low pass that pushed Johnson into the net.
The Dutchman reached a top speed of over 30 kilometers per hour, after last season he established himself as the fastest player in the history of the competition (since there are records), with a record of 37.38 km /h, surpassing Kyle Walker.
This top speed can compete with the 37.58 km/h that Usain Bolt recorded, an unbeatable 9.58 in 2009 to set a new world record in the 100 meter dash.
However, the Jamaican had a peak of 44.72 km/h between 60 and 80 meters, which confirms the obvious superiority of the Jamaican athlete over the Dutch footballer.
Van de Ven, who has a contract with Tottenham until 2029, joined Spurs last summer from Wolfsburg, where he also became the fastest player in Bundesliga history with a top speed of 35.88 km/h.
The center-back has started five of Tottenham’s six games this season and forms the main duo in defense along with ‘Cuti’ Romero. Last season he missed two months due to a thigh injury between November and January, but he played 29 games in total, in addition to establishing himself in the Dutch national team, where he already has eight caps.
