Teddy McCarthy, the sporting legend from Cork, Ireland, passed away recently and has been mourned by thousands of fans and peers alike. The Barry Bros Funeral Home in Glanmire saw huge crowds queuing up to pay their respects to the legend. Even before the funeral home opened its doors at 4 pm, there were over a thousand people waiting outside.

Teddy McCarthy was a well-known sportsman who played for the Cork GAA team. He was a part of the 1990 Cork All-Ireland winning team. Teddy was remembered by his fellow teammates and fans who had come from all over Ireland to pay respects.

The huge crowds gathering to pay their respects to Teddy McCarthy at the funeral home and to attend the funeral would have created some logistic issues, and hence, revised funeral route details and parking arrangements have been announced. The hearse carrying Teddy’s remains will leave Barry Bros Funeral Home in Hazelwood at 9.45 am. The funeral procession will pass through Brooklodge, Sars Hurling Club, St. Joseph’s View, Riverstown Cross and onto Springhill Church. The Glanmire Football Club has requested their players and community members to line up along the route to bid their final farewell to the legend.

Parking is available at various locations, including Glanmire Football Club (Pike Field), Hazelwood Centre, SuperValu, Glanmire, Glanmire Community College, Glanmire Area Sports Ground, Sarsfields Hurling Club, and John O’Callaghan Park. The locations will be easily accessible to all the attendees, and ample parking makes the commuting easier.

The Requiem Mass will take place at 11 am at St Joseph’s Church, Springhill, Glanmire, and the funeral will be held later at Rathcooney Cemetery. The funeral is expected to draw a huge crowd from across the country, and as such, parking arrangements have been made for the attendees. The large crowds at the funeral and the volume of visitors will require cooperation and patience from all attendees.

Teddy McCarthy’s memory will be cherished by everyone who knew him. The legend has left his mark on the Cork sports community, and he will be remembered for his contributions to Cork’s success in the GAA league, especially in the All-Ireland game. The community members, players, coaches, and fans have come together to pay their respects to Teddy McCarthy, and they have extended their condolences to his family.
