Later, in 2008, Simpson ended up in jail: he was sentenced to 33 years in prison for his role in an armed robbery of a Las Vegas casino in 2007.
According to Simpson, he only wanted to recover some of his career memorabilia that was stolen after his acquittal in 1995, and he did not know that 2 of the 5 men he went to the casino with were armed.
After serving 9 years of his sentence, Simpson was conditionally released in 2017 for good behavior. He had to adhere to strict conditions, but he was able to live as a free man for another 7 years. Simpson died yesterday at the age of 76 from prostate cancer.
