Juan Mata will be at Old Traffiord for at least one more season. This means that Bruno Fernandes still has to wait, at least if we are to believe Mata himself.
The 33-year-old Spaniard signed a one-year contract last week, which binds him to Old Trafford until the summer of 2022. And Mata has the dream number of Fernandes, who is 8.
The Portuguese must wait at least a year for that number before he can take over, Mata jokes himself.
– He must be patient and wait at least another year, Mata says with a laugh Daily Mail.
Bruno has only played with number 18 on the shirt since joining Manchester United, and has scored 26 goals and 18 assists in 51 Premier League games.
But before joining United, he played with number 8 on the kit in both Udinese and Sporting. He has previously said that number 8 is the favorite number, and he has even tattooed the number 8 on his arm.
– 8 is my number because dad had it when he played, it is the date I have a birthday (September 8) and it is a number I like very much, Fernandes has previously said.
