Sports facility in Krefeld​: Hubert Houben-Kampfbahn retains natural grass​

The decision has been made: The listed Hubert-Houben-Kampfbahn and sporting home of KTSV Preußen Krefeld will keep its natural grass sports field. The North District Council decided on the variant with two football pitches, said District Manager Benjamin Zander from the Greens on Wednesday in an interview with our editors. The sports facility in Kliedbruch, originally planned by architect Johan Adolph Stromenger, is considered one of the most beautiful in the entire region. In recent decades, however, not much has been invested in the maintenance and care of the grandstand with cabins and sanitary facilities, in the gatehouse and the enclosure wall. That will change. Zander does not believe that the 3.5 to five million euros that have been discussed so far are sufficient. Construction prices have recently risen sharply.
