BUDAPEST (VG) Jakob Ingebrigtsen (22) elicited laughter when he answered questions about his wedding plans with Elisabeth Asserson (22).
The couple have been together for a number of years and will get married later this autumn after the season is over. Before the start of the World Cup in Budapest, a Swedish journalist wondered if he got “peace from his wedding plans” while the championship is in progress. Jakob Ingebrigtsen confirmed that.
– It’s not as popular at home, but it’s a bit like how I solve all things. The next is the most important. First the WC in Budapest, then the remaining races for the rest of the season… And if it goes well, then you can get married, says Jakob Ingebrigtsen.

The roommate Elisabeth Asserson can often be seen at the races around Ingebrigtsen. In interviews, she has been open about her nerves in connection with competitions.
– I have made it clear that it remains to be seen how things go here in Budapest if there will be a wedding, says Ingebrigtsen to laughter among those present.
– We take the first, first, continues the 22-year-old.

The couple are also working on a new house and are going on their honeymoon.

The Swedish media also sought answers to why Norway has so many world stars in various sports such as Jakob Ingebrigtsen himself in the 1500 metres, Karsten Warholm in the 400 meter hurdles, Casper Ruud in tennis and Viktor Hovland in golf. Add Erling Braut Haaland and Martin Ødegaard in football.
– I don’t know if it’s a coincidence, I have nothing to do with any of them. So it is difficult to know what is causing it, says Jakob Ingebrigtsen.
– Is Norway a bigger sporting nation than Sweden?, asks Aftonbladet.
– Yes absolutely.
– Undoubtedly?
– Yes.
The WC runs from 19–27. August. Ingebrigtsen is scheduled to run both 1,500 and 5,000 metres. These are the dates:
