– It was not a low blow – I have been deprived of the victory tonight! said a very upset Dubois when he was interviewed in the ring.
Because even though Usyk and most of the 50,000 spectators in Polish Wroclaw cheered for the victory, many reacted to what happened at the start of the fifth round.

Dubois struck with a violent blow to the body, planting his right glove right on the edge of Usyk’s shorts. The Ukrainian champion went straight down in excruciating pain, indicating it was in his “noble parts”.
The referee judged “low blow”, but he did not deduct points from Dubois. Usyk had almost four minutes to recover. TNT Sports’ expert commentator Carl Frampton reacted to the replays as follows:
– It’s not a low blow!
Usyk had dominated the match until the episode. When he was ready to continue, he took some time to get going again. Towards the end of the eighth round, Dubois had to count.
Settled with jab
In the ninth round, the decision came when Usyk hit very well with a right jab, which sent Dubois down on his knees. He recovered, but the referee waved it all off as a technical knockout victory for Usyk.

– Boxing is a tough sport, but I’m big. In the ring I respect my opponent. It’s boxing, not ballet, Usyk said in his not-so-fluent English when asked about the episode in the fifth round.
When asked if he had felt the power of Dubois, Usyk replied as follows:
– No, just my balls…
But in Dubois’s corner, it was a very bad atmosphere, and his promoter Frank Warren fired violently:
– He (Dubois) was deprived of a victory! The blow hit him on the waist, and the referee made a foul mistake. I like Usyk, but this was home courting, Warren raged.

– The referee judged a low blow, but did not draw points. It’s bullshit! It is being looked at by the commission – there must be a rematch.
At the same time, Dubois’ trainer, Don Charles, repeatedly bellowed “How’s that a low blow?!” while the replay rolled across the big screen.
Opinions among writers and experts are very divided, but according to the regulations, illegal punches in boxing are behind the ears and below the navel. The problem is that Usyk’s navel is not visible because it is hidden by the shorts, or the waistband.
– The fight was such that some judges will say it was low, and some not. For me it was not low. It didn’t hit where Usyk would have us believe it hit, and he got time to recover, Frampton elaborated.
Do you carry Fury?
He himself is a former world champion, and felt for his compatriot Dubois.
– I doubt that there will be a rematch. I think Usyk’s next fight will be against Tyson Fury, added Frampton.
Usyk also commented on the possibilities of a fight against Fury, who holds the last major World Heavyweight (WBC) title as well as being the lineal champion:
– I’ll be ready tomorrow! I’m ready to face him in the next match, but I don’t know if he’s ready.
