Sporting reject derby tickets again | BE Gijón | BE Deportivos Gijón

The week before the Asturian derby has barely begun and the controversy is already served. As already happened in 2019, Sporting has decided to reject the tickets offered to the visiting fans in the face of what they consider “discriminatory treatment” towards their fans due to the security device proposed by the Government Delegation in Asturias. The maintenance of the ‘mandatory bubble’ for the displacement of the rojiblancos supporters, who would once again be obliged to meet hours before the match, travel under escort to the Tartiere and remain in the carbayón stadium long after the match, to return again escorted by the police up Gijón, has led to the reaction of Sporting, which recalls in a statement that to these circumstances must be added on this occasion the restrictions derived from the pandemic, which prevent drinking or eating in the sports arena.

For this reason, after a first meeting with the Government Delegation on Monday afternoon, Sporting has made the decision not to distribute the tickets among its subscribers, suspending online booking that he had launched.

The Government Delegation defends that its proposal has been extremely flexible out of respect for the fans, framed in a context of high risk match, and that it has been Sporting who has flatly rejected the proposed measures. Already in 2019, in the last derby with an audience in the stands, it was impossible to reach an agreement, given the inflexible position of Oviedo to maintain the visiting bubble.

For this Tuesday, at eleven in the morning, another meeting with both clubs is scheduled at the headquarters of the Government Delegation. Sporting confirms that it will be “duly represented”, although given the circumstances it seems difficult that an agreement can be reached.
