Sporting regrets pyrotechnics that caused injuries in Denmark – Sporting

Sporting has just issued a statement condemning the incidents caused by the use of pyrotechnics in the game against Midtjylland, in Denmark, which marked the qualification of the lions (1-5 on aggregate) for the round of 16 of the Europa League. Sporting supporters, as we reported, set off various artifacts at the MCH Arena, namely flash lights, torches and smoke pots, which injured a child and a steward.

“Sporting Clube de Portugal – Futebol SAD deeply regrets and condemns that, in today’s game against FC Midtjylland, a child and a Sports Precinct Assistant (ARD) suffered injuries due to the misuse and prohibited by UEFA of pyrotechnics”, starts by referring to Sporting, which is now subject to sanctions by the body that oversees European football.

“After being assisted at the scene, the child was taken to the hospital and the ARD was assisted in an ambulance at the stadium for having been hit in the head with a pot of tobacco. It is the second time that, in the space of a month, children have been affected due to the improper use of pyrotechnic material”, continues the club from Alvalade, referring to the burns caused to a 9-year-old child, victim of a rain of torches thrown from the Youth Leonina sector, in the Allianz Cup final against FC Porto, on 28 January, in Leiria (a dozen supporters were assisted by firefighters).

Sporting ends the statement considering that “it is critical for Sport, and for the majority of supporters who travel to support their club, alone or with their family, that the authorities urgently intervene with determination, to the detriment of the fact that we will soon be regretting the consequences more serious.” “The majority has to feel protected to bring their people to support their own”, conclude the greens and whites.
