Sporting diversity on the evening of sports at UniBw M

From ballroom dancing to indoor cycling to climbing at breathtaking heights: the evening of sports, organized by the UniBw M sports center, offered an impressive show of a wide variety of disciplines.

The head of the sports center Rudi Hoffmann opened the evening of sports on November 9, 2023 and welcomed the students present. He led the event for the last time this year and will go into his well-deserved retirement at the end of 2023. Colonel Matthias Henkelmann, head of the student area, was also there and in his welcome he emphasized the uniqueness and diversity of the university’s sports offerings.

Sporty shows

Selected sports groups presented themselves to the audience with shows – from standard dancing to indoor cycling, climbing on the ceiling, fencing, gymnastics, boxing and archery, everything was there. Colonel Henkelmann received special attention when he was asked on stage to demonstrate his archery skills under the supervision of the reigning German Olympic archery champion.

Outstanding sporting achievements

After the performances, outstanding athletes who study at the University of the Bundeswehr in Munich were honored. Verena F., the reigning German champion in university jujutsu, was honored for her outstanding achievements. The mixed volleyball team, which won the university championship this year, was also honored.

Rudi Hoffmann, who has passionately led the Evening of Sports in recent years, was honored during the event for his contribution to sporting life at the university.

Numerous students from the 2023 academic year attended the event and found out about the various sports groups after the performance. The diverse sports offerings at the university are supported by the sports support association at UniBw M, which supports sports groups and events such as the Evening of Sports.

The Evening of Sports remains a highlight in the university calendar and offers students in particular an excellent opportunity to get to know the various sports options and become part of an active sporting community at UniBw M.
