Sporting director Dutch Grand Prix responds to fuss about Prince Bernhard | Culture

entertainment">Bernhard and the Dutch Grand Prix are under fire after the band Chef’special reported that the prince had asked if the group wanted to perform for free at Formula 1 in Zandvoort. According to the DGP, more artists have been approached with this request. Davina Michelle, who will sing the national anthem on September 5, said on Friday that she would only do this if other artists are paid.

entertainment">According to Lammers, “many celebrities and artists have approached me if they could do something at the Grand Prix. They see it as a unique opportunity to be in the middle of the event.” The sporting director of the DGP emphasizes that the band members of the singers would get paid. “The artists we approached have a healthier income than the other band members. And most have an affinity with motorsport.”

entertainment">The sporting director calls it “cheap” to bash Prince Bernhard “just every time” and on their own “setback”. “Look at the facts, what is happening to us. We receive a zero euro subsidy and have to host 315,000 people. We will have to deal with a setback of 10 million.”

entertainment">Prince Bernhard said on Friday that he did not want to explain all the commotion. He only said in a short statement via RTL presenter Humberto Tan that he regrets the fuss and that he should not have sent the letters. RTL announced that the prince himself did not want to sit at the table to give text and explanation.
