SPORT NETWORKED – A new exercise offer for all children in Reinickendorf

On Monday, November 11th, District Councilor for Sport Harald Muschner (CDU) attended the presentation event of “SPORT VERNETZT”, a sports project from ALBA Berlin that offers children a variety of sports opportunities from daycare age onwards. The project creates new opportunities for exercise and promotes an active, healthy lifestyle, particularly in districts with particular social challenges. To do this, “SPORT VERNETZT” brings qualified trainers directly to the children – to their schools, daycare centers and leisure facilities.

“I am pleased that we can also launch ‘SPORT VERNETZT’ here in Reinickendorf,” says Harald Muschner. “It is important that all children have the opportunity to experience sport and exercise. In this way, we support them in developing joy in an active lifestyle at an early age and at the same time strengthen our sports clubs as important social actors.”

The project is aimed primarily at children from disadvantaged living situations. By working with sports clubs, schools, daycare centers and local trainers, the needs of these children can be addressed directly.

Research shows that exercise is important for children’s physical and mental development. The project confirms this: “SPORT VERNETZT” strengthens the self-confidence and social skills of the children who take part. The offer relieves the burden on educational professionals and allows them to develop further as coaches, while local decision-makers are made aware of the importance of exercise in social spaces.
