Sport – Magdeburg – Sports clubs are committed to Ukrainian refugees – Sport

Halle/Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – In addition to normal game operations, sports clubs in Saxony-Anhalt are involved with war refugees from Ukraine. They donate sports shoes, running pants or balls, according to a survey by the German Press Agency. Some also invite the Ukrainians to home games.

The SV Union Halle-Neustadt also wants to hand over donations in kind at a home game with free entry. Since this week, the association has been fulfilling the wishes of refugees who are attached to a sponsor’s wishing tree. A spokesman for the association announced that SC Magdeburg handed over around 300 items of clothing to the city of Magdeburg for the refugees on Thursday. Together with the Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband, they are also planning to invite refugees to one of the next SCM home games.

The youngsters of Hallesche FC donated soccer shoes and training equipment for newcomers. In addition to large-scale donations in kind, they have also provided a large apartment for two families. It’s about helping, creating offers of help and distracting as much as possible, according to a spokesman for Halle’s FC.

There is less turf and ball, but ice and runners for the refugees at the Central German Ice Hockey Club MEC Halle 04. The club offers them free entry to ice skating in their hall and also to their home games. In the past, the Saale Bulls ice hockey team had numerous players from different countries under contract, and they are open to the long-term integration of ice hockey players from Ukraine.

Depending on demand, SC Magdeburg and Hallesche FC also want to offer training for athletes from the Ukraine.
