Sports and Health takes to the field to defend women’s rights. The commitment of the company, owned by the Ministry of Economy, continues in the name of enhancing its staff. Sport and Health currently has 488 employees, with a female representation of 51% (249 women and 239 men).
15 thousand euros from Sport and Health employees
“A step against violence”. This is the name of the call launched last year, on 25 November 2023, on the occasion of the World Day against Violence against Women. The employees, through their commitment, gave value to their steps and “converted” them into a sum of 15 thousand euros to be allocated to an organization that operates on the front line for the defense of women’s rights. For the World Day against Violence against Women (Monday 25 November) the Olympic Stadium will host a themed team building. The event will end with the creation of a mural on canvas: “Sport against gender violence”.
At the Olimpico 100 red seats against gender violence
One hundred red seats (10 in each sector) in the stands of the Olympic Stadium. This is another of the concrete signals put forward by the company to raise awareness on the topic. The sessions will be installed, in each sector, in the order 1-5-2-2 in reference to the anti-violence number. An initiative proposed by the Municipality of Rome and welcomed by Sport and Health, with the involvement of the Lazio and Rome sports clubs. For the seats, with a view to circular economy and sustainability, recycled materials will be used from waste produced within the Olympic Stadium and collected during the events hosted.
A call to promote inclusion
Also from November 25th the “Sportiva” tender will be launchedcreated by Sport and Health and promoted and financed by the Minister of Labor and Social Policies and the Minister for Sport and Youth, for the definition of a multi-year plan of interventions aimed at promoting sport as a tool for dialogue, social inclusion and contrast to discrimination. The project, with a total funding of approximately 1.5 million euros, involves the implementation of motor-physical-sports and extra-sports activities aimed at women of all ages.
Finally, still in the definition phase the “Education to respect” project. The project will involve secondary schools in some Italian cities, with free self-defence lessons, meetings with testimonials and associations operating on the topic, webinars and the dissemination of information material.
