The spokesperson for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has spoken out again following the Sussex chase with the paparazzi. It supports the first version of the facts.
On May 17, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle were chased by paparazzi after a charity event in New York. A chase that would have lasted no less than two hours. Since then, speculation has been rife. The Sussexes are accused of having magnified the features of the story to afford a communication stunt. Allegations that their spokesperson insisted on denying to the American media “Page Six”, Tuesday, May 23.
The Sussex representative denounced false speculation: “Respectfully, given the history of the Duke’s family, one would have to think nothing of the couple or anyone associated with them to believe that this was a some PR stunt,” she said, drawing a parallel to the tragic accident that claimed the life of Princes William and Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, in 1997. “Quite frankly, I think it’s ‘is odious,’ she insisted to the journal.
A chase that could have turned into a tragedy?
Ashley Hansen, in charge of the couple’s communications, had herself announced that the outcome of the evening could have been “catastrophic”, describing a race of “nearly two hours” which had then “nearly caused collisions with other drivers, pedestrians and two NYPD officers. Remarks that the local police had immediately qualified. She then said that although “many photographers made it difficult for them to be transported”, the Sussexes “arrived at their destination and there were no reports of collisions, summonses, injuries or arrests”.
Traumatized by the death of his mother Diana in 1997, when she was chased by photographers in Paris, Prince Harry applies to protect his family. It is partly because of this media pressure that the couple decided to leave the British monarchy in 2020, to settle in California with their two children Archie (4 years old) and Lilibet (soon to be 2 years old).
A court ruling regarding the safety of the Sussexes and their family in the UK was made public yesterday. British justice has announced that it has rejected Prince Harry’s request to pay with his personal funds for his police protection when he is on British soil. Following their stepping down from the Royal Family in 2020, the Duke and his wife Meghan Markle had lost the law enforcement protection afforded to them at the expense of the British taxpayer. A new cold shower for the son of King Charles III.
