The provider of corona tests, which was closed last night due to the falsification of vaccination certificates, turns out to be Spoedtest.nl. The company confirms that. Customers of the organization report to the NOS that their appointment has been canceled or that they can no longer make a new appointment.
The Ministry of Health does not want to indicate which test company is involved, but does want to say that it is a “large provider”. Spoedtest.nl claims to be the largest test provider in the Netherlands; according to the ministry, the organization controls about 10 percent of the test market.
“We regret the drastic decision of the ministry”, founder Rasmus Emmelkamp said. He calls the allegations completely unfounded and states that his company does not issue vaccination certificates.
The shutdown means the company will no longer be able to generate new QR codes for negatively tested customers and people will no longer be able to book an appointment through Testing for Access. Existing codes remain valid.
Declaration
The ministry has reported fraud. Individual employees of test providers and vaccination streets have previously been suspended and arrested, but it is the first time that a company as a whole has been accused of playing a dirty game.
One or more doctors of Spoedtest.nl may have abused a system with which doctors can register vaccinations themselves in CoronaCheck. This option was introduced after there were many problems with the data link between GP systems and CoronaCheck. As a test company, a company such as Spoedtest.nl may only issue test certificates, not proof of vaccination.
“We aim to block as many fraudulently issued vaccination certificates as possible,” said a ministry spokesman. “Both generating fake QR codes and purchasing fake QR codes are punishable.”
