The semi-final first leg of the French Pro A championship sees Rouen challenge the double title holder Angers, this Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Kindarena. A historic game for the Coyotes.
Thanks to an authoritative success over Chartres (3-0) at the end of the regular season, SPO Rouen achieved their goal of finishing in the top four to participate in the play-offs. By finishing on the 3rd step of the podium, the Coyotes did better than last year (5th) and as well as in 2021.
But the club of President Dominique Fache does not intend to stop there. Qualified for the semi-finals of the championship, he won the right to fight for the gold medal or the silver medal, since this 2022-2023 fiscal year is marked by the establishment of a final phase.
The obstacle to overcome to access the ultimate confrontation? Definitely the double champion of France in title Angers, dolphin of the leader Hennebont. Not enough to impress the Coyotes, who stood up to this opponent during the regular season: a success at Kindarena (3-2) in the first leg, a defeat in Angers (2-3) in the return. Perfect equality between the two teams…
On paper, the workforce of the Loire is scary, with two players from the World Top 50: the Portuguese Joao Geraldo, n°46, and the Swede Jon Persson, n°50. However, in the first leg on November 22, these two leaders had bitten the dust against an Alexandre Robinot in a state of grace. Transcended by his audience, the current 370th in the world rankings is capable of all feats.
It takes a 1000 room of Kindarena in fusion to help the Coyotes take the advantage over the Wolves of Angers before the return match Friday, June 2. The high point of the season, this semi-final is sponsored by the Métropole, with a special price: only €3 for everyone!
