Jamie Carragher respect the decision Roberto Firmino who want to leave Liverpool. He considered separation to be the best way for Firmino and the Reds.
Firmino is rumored to be leaving Liverpool at the end of this season. Quoted from Sky Germany, the Brazilian player is reported to have met the Liverpool manager, Juergen Klopp to express his desire not to extend his tenure with the Reds.
Firmino’s contract with Liverpool will expire at the end of June 2023. This will make the 31-year striker a free transfer after the end of this season.
Liverpool are said to actually want to keep Firmino. He is considered still needed by the team even though he has often not been optimal in the last few seasons because he is often struggling with injuries. However, Firmino has always refused contract extensions offered by Liverpool.
If he leaves Liverpool, Firmino will end his eight years of service at Anfield. He joined Liverpool in 2015 from Hoffenheim.
Firmino then became a mainstay of Liverpool’s front line under Klopp. He formed an iconic trio with Muhamad Salah and Sadio Mane to lead Liverpool to glory.
Firmino scored a total of 107 goals and 78 assists from 353 appearances for the team from Merseyside. Roberto has won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, English League Cup and Club World Cup with Liverpool.
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher also commented on the news that Firmino will leave Liverpool via a tweet on his account his Twitter. Carragher will fully respect Firmino’s decision.
He considered that parting ways was the best way for Liverpool and Firmino. Carragher believes Firmino will continue to be remembered by Liverpool fans even though he is no longer in the Reds uniform.
“If reports of Firmino leaving at the end of the season are true, I think that’s best for all concerned,” Carragher wrote.
“He was great at Liverpool and will be remembered for being part of one of the best three forwards we have seen,” he explained.
