Splinterlands’ Waka Flocka NFT sold out in 30 seconds

Splinterlands, one of the most popular blockchain games, has announced that its latest NFT drop starring US rapper Waka Flocka Flame sold out in just 30 seconds.

Under the name of “Waka Spiritblade‘ the NFT has additional power from ‘a legendary 3-cost death summon’. Players will have the ability to use his Poison ability on enemy monsters with a 50% higher chance of success.

According to Splinterlands, the Waka Flocka NFT was launched in partnership with NFT platform Loka.

The release comes at a time when Splinterlands has seen a lot of interest in Non-Fungible Token Collections due to its unique style that provides NFTs with extra value outside of the game.

A wearable NFT on Snapchat

Loka’s participation in the drop means collectors of Waka Flocka NFTs can reap double benefits from the tokens. In one of the use cases, NFT holders can mark their in-game items as “playable summoner cards” insert.

Apart from that, one has the option to use their Waka Flocka NFTs on Snapchat as wearable NFTs.

dr Jesse “Aggroed” Reich, Splinterlands’ co-founder and CEO, said that the NFT space is a promising industry that will give users “real digital property.” But he believes the space needs more than that to truly benefit players.

In his view, there must be an opportunity for players not only to access the purchase of in-game assets, but also to find value by being able to sell the assets outside of the game.

This is just one of the first examples of the promising future that is radically changing the value proposition for gamers willsaid Dr. Jesse “Aggroed” Reich, co-founder and CEO of Splinterlands.

Loak’s Jacob Safar said the partnership is a fundamental step in entering the play-to-earn ecosystem.

1000 NFT copies, 500 sold

During the sale, Splinterlands released 500 NFTs, with the offering set in two versions – Regular and Gold. That first deck consisted of 480 regular and 20 gold cards, according to the press release provided to Invezz.

The other half of the 1000 NFT collection is slated for a later release and will be available on Splinterlands’ AtomicHub storefront.

There are two ways to purchase the NFT – either you buy it in-game (which was what happened in the first phase of the sale), or you get it through an external account.

Purchases can be made using SPS, the card game’s native token. At the time of writing, the SPS is trading at $0.122, which is currently down about 5% amid broad crypto market weakness.
