It was just a year ago Ubisoft has announced a remake of the classic Splinter Cell stealth game. Ubisoft veteran David Grivel was tasked with leading the project, but is now done with the developer.
In a message on Linkedin Grivel recently wrote that he completed his last day at Ubisoft, after 11 years of service. He hasn’t written anything about why he won’t continue with Splinter Cell, other than the fact that it was “time for a new adventure”.
The Splinter Cell remake was announced almost a year ago.
Grivel now reports that he has accepted a job as a game designer at Behavior Interactive, the studio behind, among others, Dead by Daylight and the upcoming action game Meet Your Maker.
Ubisoft has not yet commented on the situation. Who will take Grivel’s place or how things are going with the new Splinter Cell is therefore not clear.
In December 2021, the developer reported that the new version – which is of the more extended variant of Remake – was still at the beginning of the development phase. The plan is to preserve the spirit of the original game while giving an overhaul of the graphics and some design elements.
The launch date and platform details have not been confirmed.
