On social media, many have questioned about the choir at the Istiqlal Mosque as well as some of the Jakarta Youth Choir (JYC) female personnel who do not wear a headscarf. There are also those who question Ahmad Riza Patria uploading the video.

Ahmad Riza Patria finally spoke up. Through YouTube, he apologized for the video of the choir inside the Istiqlal Mosque.

“We, on behalf of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, apologize profusely to all residents, especially Muslims, who feel uncomfortable with the video of the Lebaran song and the song Asmaul Husna outside and inside the Istiqlal Mosque,” said Riza, as seen in his video, Tuesday. (18 // 5/2021).

“This is a valuable lesson for us, to be more careful. Thank you for the suggestions and input to us so far. We need to convey that the video is the work of the Jakarta Youth Choir (JYC), a choir fostered by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Youth and Sports Service, “he explained.

Riza explained that the JYC member sang Asmaul Husna and the Lebaran song by the late Ismail Marzuki. The choir in the Istiqlal Mosque, said Riza, is a proposal from JYC.

“This video is in-posting on the official account of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government the account name is @dkijakarta. But not on the orders of the Governor or the Deputy Governor as in the news circulating, “said Riza.

Riza said that her Instagram account also had time to re-upload the video to the @arizaPatria account. But later deleted.

“There is no intention whatsoever from our sisters at JYC in making the video other than to share in the joy of the Lebaran atmosphere with the spirit of Jakarta as a city of collaboration,” he said.
