When the statutory provisions for electing a president from the grassroots changed, so did the fact that the KE is elected from the grassroots. Obviously in all democratic parties, it is assumed that everything is controlled from somewhere.
Let’s go to the KE election in March. The members of the SYRIZA Executive Committee are elected by the grassroots, as is the party president. What happened yesterday also shows the behavior and practices of Mr. Kasselakis in the previous period. We are talking about “Trumpism” here, that is, someone took the party secretary and the party manager. He told Mr. Mavrokephalidis to open his office. Would a sane and decent person after any of his discounts go and say “open my office”? He would have a chip. Apparently, Mr. Kasselakis made a calculation and saw that he cannot form his own party, he will go unclaimed. He can be a candidate”he initially said.
Then Mr. Spirtzis pointed out: “Mr. Kasselakis had 70 of his supporters, the two of whom were not even members, delete me because I was expressing my political views. I gave an account of the European elections that was not in line with his own beliefs. Is it possible for him to come out to the KE and talk to SYRIZA about hoodlums? And to insult the members of the KE? I am not in favor of deletions but in favor of political solutions. I was also against the deletion of Mr. Polakis from KO. They are different things. Here we are talking about divisive perceptions and practices that embarrass SYRIZA and the political world in general.”
“Kasselakis’ associates slandered SYRIZA officials through trolls”
Then Mr. Spirtzis talked about the cooperation of Stefanos Kasselakis and his team with internet trolls. “Yesterday there were invitations on social media from supporters of Mr. Kasselakis to gather outside Koumoundourou. Like they’re recapturing. He later canceled it himself when his associates informed him that these things would hurt him. His team of associates mobilized this. Everything he did as president.
As president, he had made a group of his collaborators, and used the structures of SYRIZA, its press office, Ms. Kountouri, Mr. Papadakis, Mr. Marketos, who leaked information against SYRIZA executives. They were colluding with a series of named and anonymous trolls, in order to target SYRIZA executives, me, Ms. Gerovasilis, Ms. Notopoulos, Mr. Vassiliadis, Mr. Zachariadis. There was not a person who spoke a different political view, and would not be targeted by this group. From what was seen, there were trolls, for example, but they were named as Nikos Moraitis and his relations with Mr. Papadakis, who was the director of the Press Office, were revealed. It was revealed by mistake. And others were anonymous accounts, for example “pen dalaora”, another 100 accounts”revealed features.
“The entire presence of Kasselakis is foreign to SYRIZA”
Regarding the overall presence of Kasselakis in SYRIZA, he said: “Personally, I am separated from Mr. Kasselakis by political and cultural chaos. If Kasselakis returns to SYRIZA, I have said that I will leave. Kasselakis doesn’t rally people with such quirks. He doesn’t rally his own world like that either. There are many “stars” in Mr. Kasselakis’ team. Ms. Tzakri is also a lawyer. I think these issues cannot be resolved with either constitutional experts or lawyers. These issues are political. Of course, the word “rejected” exists for Kasselakis.
And he added: “The KE are not executives who passed through SYRIZA, and “saw the light and entered”. For the majority of the KE to vote censure against a president, it means that this person has completely departed from the principles, values, observance of the constitution and rules of the party. I don’t see it as a split. I proposed to Mr. Kasselakis to leave, not even set up a ballot box. The proposals, the perceptions, the behavior, the non-politics he has, his tactics of challenging the world with the wealth he has or says he has, these are attitudes, policies, values foreign to us.”
