Announced in 2019 by ThunderLotus, SpiritFarer will turn players into soul couriers. Today, at Nintendo Indie World, the developers unveiled the title’s release date.
And this release date is none other than that of the day, that is to say August 18, 2020. If this announcement was made while Nintendo aired and Spiritfarer is therefore available on Switch, know that the title is also available on PS4, Xbox One (including in GamePass), Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store. Against the sum of € 24.99, players can experience this adventure and management game playing Stella, a soul smuggler whose objective is to bring the deceased to the other side.
To do this, it will take befriend these souls and upgrade their ship to offer a pleasant journey to the dead before leaving them in the Beyond. Presented as a “comfortable” game on death, Spiritfarer offers players farm, mine, fish, harvest, and cook, while sailing. Also, the title will offer a cooperative mode, in which the second player takes control of Daffodil, a cat. Nicolas Guérin, Creative Director of Spiritfarer, declared at the launch:
I will say it was quite difficult to keep this launch under the radar! We’ve taken what is by far our biggest and most ambitious production to date, and set out to raise the bar by running Spiritfarer simultaneously on almost every existing system. Our fans have been so patient, waiting for us to announce the release date. Well, I’m happy to tell them: the time has come! Spiritfarer is a game close to our hearts, so we hope you will join us.
