On the occasion of the celebration of Mother’s Day in Mexico, the economic benefit will increase 13% compared to last year, which corresponds to 80 billion pesos, said Octavio de la Torre, president of the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services and Tourism (CONCANACO SERVYTUR).

Furthermore, it indicated that 47% are mothers who are married, 20% live in a free union, 12% are widows and 11% are single, of which seven out of 10 single mothers are economically active, which highlights its importance in the workplace.

Octavio de la Torre de Stéffano, pointed out that the celebration of Mother’s Day in Mexico began in 1922 and since then it has had a fundamental role in the procreation, growth and development of children, families and society in general, therefore which detailed that on these dates domestic consumption is promoted in various categories such as flowers, food, clothing, restaurants, jewelry, among others.

“With their effort, work and daily dedication, mothers contribute to building better children, integral families, productive businesses and a more prosperous society. Traditionally, a mother’s work has focused on household chores, but in recent years Their participation in economic activities has also been recognized,” he noted.

He added that these growth estimates are similar to those of Children’s Day, where the increase on April 30 was 14 percent, following the increase in the economy.

Octavio de la Torre assured that work continues to promote the economic development of the country and recognizes the important role of mothers in society and the Mexican economy.
