Thomas Jefferson Byrd, an actor who worked regularly with Spike Lee, was found dead in Atlanta at the age of seventy with multiple gunshot wounds to the back. The police are currently still looking for the culprit.
Byrd co-starred in Lee’s Clockers, Girl 6, Get on the Bus, He Got Game, Bamboozled, Red Hook Summer, Da Sweet Blood of Jesus and Chi-Raq. He also appeared in F. Gary Grays Set It Offby Ray Charles-biopic Ray in Antoine Fuqua’s Brooklyn’s Finest.
Lee pays a final greeting to Byrd on Instagram and posts a photo of his character Clockers.
