‘Spies make contact with Dutch employees tech companies via LinkedIn’ – IT Pro – News

These obviously do not pretend to be “Spy Deng” or “Spy Igor”, but as they say they pretend to be a professor or something along those lines. And even as a professor you have to be careful, these people are very loyal to their party and although they actually work at a university it is a very high risk.

I think this is also a result of how naive we are in the West, both our government and people in general. We are not used to how a country that has been fully controlled for 70 years, what the consequences are for their people. That these are much more loyal to their government, that they will also speak out when a neighbor is less loyal, that they cannot see that something is wrong no matter how obvious it may be.

You can also see this with our government where our representatives try to start a conversation, where they are used to poldering while the other side is always out to win everything. This is not doom thinking, you will find this out when you spend some time in China. This is not a society as we are used to in the Netherlands.

Can you charge Linkedin for this, I don’t think so in advance, but if it is indeed known that people take bad positions with a VPN from China and do nothing about it, that is another story.
