Even in Hollywood, nothing lasts forever: Action star Tom Holland is known for his role as Spider-Man, which he doesn’t seem to want to play for much longer. The friendly spider from the neighborhood swings over the cinema screens again: Spider-Man: No Way Home is the next and now third part of the superhero series. Right at the forefront of course is main actor Tom Holland, who will slip into costume for the cult figure again.
In the meantime, however, it is no longer a matter of course that Holland plays Spider-Man. Because as the 25-year-old announced personally, he wants to leave the role in the future. In an interview with GQ magazine, Holland revealed that he wanted to make way for another Marvel character:
“Maybe it’s time for me to move on. Maybe it’s best for Spider-Man to make a movie about Miles Morales. I also have to consider Peter Parker because he’s an important part of my life. […] If I still play Spider-Man when I am over 30, then I’ve done something wrong. “
A clear and shocking announcement for fans who had been looking forward to many more blockbusters with Tom Holland as Spider-Man. At least Holland seems to have ideas about the direction in which his career as a film star should instead run. For example, next year he will play the role of video game adventurer Nathan Drake alongside Mark Wahlberg. And according to Jacob Batalon, a co-star from the Spider-Man films, Holland seems to be very interested in James Bond. It remains to be seen which roles the aspiring film star will fill next.
