Actor Tony Revolori wonders if we’ll ever see a black actor as Spider-Man in the Marvel Studios movies.
Since they decided to leave Spiderman at the cinema, they surrounded each other Peter Parker (Tom Holland) from classmates like MJ (Zendaya), Ned (Battle of Jacob), Rapid (Tony Revolori) and Betty (Angouri rice). And one of these actors wonders if we’ll ever see him Spiderman with a non-white actor.
Tony Revoli revealed in an interview with Insider who came to audition Spiderman from Marvel Studios. Even though she knew the role wasn’t for him.
“It seems to be a common occurrence that we enter a part like this where you want it so much that you are willing to do more than anyone else. But it gets a little hard when they don’t even consider you before moving on. I think the problem is, sure, they let us audition, but did we have a chance?
“I’m sure they’d tell you otherwise because they’re too cute, but I remember absolutely bombing the audition because I didn’t believe in myself to be able to say, ‘Yeah, I can be Spider-Man. I’ll be Spider-Man because he’s not there. no representation there, not in the comics … The idea that you have to create a whole new character to play that role is difficult.
“The fact that I’ve never seen anyone who looked like me play a role like this made me think: Will I be able to do that? Is it true, that I can really have a chance in this? And it ends up shaking up your belief system. I’d love to audition for Spider-Man and not feel like I don’t deserve the chance or not feel like I don’t have a chance from the moment I walk in, you know? concluded Tony Revoli.
Peter Parker could be replaced by Miles Morales in the MCU.
Currently, Tom Holland remains Peter Parker and hopefully it will return in a fourth solo episode or in Avengers: Secret Wars (2025). But there is also a good chance that there is a generational change and they are considering introducing another Spiderman how Miles Morales. To play him they would need a black actor, so they will have to find a new talent that brings together all the characteristics of the character.
In the meantime, we can see Miles Morales at the cinema with the animated film Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Versea sequel to the 2018 hit that even won the Oscar for Best Animated Film.
