After many months of waiting, Spider-Man is finally coming to Marvel’s Avengers. However, it is now clear that fans should adjust their expectations a bit.
It has now been August 2020 (!) since Spider-Man was revealed as a DLC character (exclusive to PlayStation). From November 30, it’s finally time, because then the character will be added to the game via an update. from a interview met IGN However, it turns out that fans should adjust their (high) expectations for the DLC.
In the interview, gameplay director Philippe Therien states that the Spider-Man DLC does come with a story, but the story is told via audio logs and some short cut scenes. That content can be unlocked through the Avengers Initiative multiplayer missions. The DLC does not come with its own story missions.
“We wanted to focus primarily on content that everyone could enjoy, so we invested a lot of energy in the Klaw raid that is launching at the same time.”

Aside from the lack of story missions, the character’s mechanics don’t seem to be worked out very well either. IGN’s first gameplay footage shows Spider-Man swinging through the streets a lot less gracefully compared to Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man. The combat also seems to be very stiff.
