Spicy scene deleted from superhero series: “It’s difficult…

The creators of ‘Harley Quinn’, an animated series set in the superhero world of DC Comics, have had to cut a spicy scene, they say. “We were told by the publishers that it is difficult to sell toys when Batman does oral sex.”

The series ‘Harley Quinn’ revolves around the anti-heroine of the same name and can be seen on streaming service HBO Max. The title character is voiced by actress Kaley Cuoco, best known for her role as Penny in “The Big Bang Theory.”

It was originally the intention of the makers to show a romance between superheroes Batman and Catwoman in the third season, but that was not allowed to continue. The reason? In one of the scenes, Batman is said to orally satisfy Catwoman. And they didn’t think that was possible at DC Comics, especially because the series is mainly aimed at children.

“We got from the publishers (DC Comics, red.) told they were concerned about their brand,” Justin Halpern, co-creator of the series, told Variety. “They said flat out: you can’t do that. You absolutely cannot do that. Heroes don’t do such things.”

Halpern, however, did not want to leave it at that. “When we asked if heroes were just selfish lovers, we were told it’s hard to sell toys when Batman does oral sex.”

Halpern also admitted that they were “very supportive” at DC Comics in general. In the previous season, Harley Quinn was allowed to share the sheets with her best friend, Poison Ivy.
