We are in 1957 in the movie theater in Spicheren. “But come and sit next to me, there is a free place,” said Jeanne Scherer to Jean Hoy, seated a row behind her. He doesn’t have to be told twice and that’s how a romance begins which continues today and covers this very nice couple with diamonds.
Jeanne Scherer was born on March 28, 1941 in Alsting, a stone’s throw from Spicheren. She did her primary studies there, then found a job as a seamstress, particularly in the Saarland, which she continued until the age of 20. Jean Hoy, was born in Spicheren on August 18, 1937.
After primary school, he joined the coal mines of the Lorraine Basin at the age of 14 and a half until March 1987 when he asserted his pension rights. He will work successively at the Gargan well then at the Simon 1 and 3 wells. Jean experienced the disaster of Monday February 25, 1985 which deeply marked him with his 22 victims and as many missing comrades.
