The 61 professionals represented by the SCGQ of the CÉGEP de l’Abitibi-Témiscamingue will be on strike on November 23 and 24, 2023.

In addition to grievances against the increase of only 10.3% of the latest salary offer from the Quebec government, members of the SPGQ also want an end to the salary discrimination which afflicts the female majority of CÉGEPS employees in the province.

“In 2023, we are more than ready for real equity. Offers must also enable staff to be retained. Currently, there is an exodus towards universities where conditions are more attractive. This is true for researchers, but also for educational advisors and librarians, for example. For certain employment groups, such as psychologists and guidance counselors for example, it is also much more interesting to turn to private practice. It is time to recognize the work of our members at its true value,” explained the president of the SPGQ, Guillaume Bouvrette.

The SPGQ represents teaching assistants, specialized analysts, financial management agents, administrative assistants, librarians, student life advisors as well as adapted services advisors, to name just a few. than these.

Remember that the members of the SPGQ colleges recently voted 82% in favor of pressure tactics which could go as far as an unlimited general strike.
