Total loss of the car, hit-and-run, alcohol in the blood and fierce resistance against the police: a 19-year-old in Leonberg only made a bad Tuesday evening worse for himself.

Leonberg – A 19-year-old Mercedes driver employed several police officers from the Leonberg district late on Tuesday evening. As the police reported, the young man was driving his A-Class in Leonberg (Böblingen district) on Bahnhofstrasse towards Römerstrasse around 11:25 p.m. when he lost control of the Mercedes in a left turn. As a result, his car turned right into the grass verge and collided with a traffic light and traffic signs. The result: the A-Class was a total write-off.

When the 19-year-old saw the police patrol approaching after the accident, the ground under his feet was apparently too hot: He ran away and left the car at the scene of the accident. His passengers called him on their cell phones and asked him to come back. Obviously he didn’t want that. The police quickly found out that the 19-year-old lived nearby in an adjacent residential area and went to see him there.

The police insulted and kicked

Initially, the young man was hiding in a bush on site. When the police discovered him there and tried to arrest him temporarily, he offered massive resistance. According to the police report, he insulted the officers several times. Since he stepped after the emergency services several times, they also put ankle shackles on him.

The officials found that the 19-year-old had a strong odor of alcohol and therefore had a blood drawn. The young man then had to spend the rest of the night in police custody.

Total damage is around 10,000 euros

The Leonberger fire brigade took care of spilled petrol at the scene of the accident with eight emergency services. The Mercedes was no longer ready to drive and had to be towed. The police estimate the property damage at a total of around 10,000 euros, with the A-Class accounting for around 8,000 euros and the damaged traffic light for around 2000 euros of the total.
