Believe it or not, a woman in the UK has a very peculiar addiction: she likes to eat baby powder, according to the New York Post.
Lisa Anderson, originally from Paignton, gets to consume daily up to a half-pound talcum bottle of content.
The 44-year-old woman developed this strange taste in 2004 while drying one of her five children with a towel after giving her a bath. She says that some talcum powder fell into her hand and suddenly felt the urge to eat it. So he simply couldn’t resist and started licking his hand.
Anderson says he really enjoys the soapy taste of the product, which became an addiction and consumed it in small portions up to 40 times per day.
The woman calculates that, so far, He has spent almost $ 10,500 dollars on talc.
Anderson decided to get help when his ex-girlfriend surprised her by eating talc after managing to keep the secret for a decade.
A doctor told him that he could have Pica syndrome, which is a disorder characterized by eating products that have no nutrients, such as hair or dry paint. In addition, Anderson also has an iron deficiency, so he is now receiving the help of a counselor to quit his addiction.
If the woman does not reduce her consumption of talc, she could put her health at risk, since this substance contains minerals such as magnesium and silicon, whose ingestion it can cause poisoning, diarrhea and even lung failure and even seizures.
