Spencer Turnbull to undergo Tommy John surgery and

Detroit Tigers right-hander Spencer Turnbull will undergo Tommy John surgery and miss the remainder of the 2021 season and most likely all of 2022.

Turnbull was initially placed on the 10-day disabled list in early June for a strained right forearm and it was thought that his problem was not serious, but now the worst possible scenario for him has been confirmed.

The right-hander made history this season after throwing a no-hitter against the Seattle Mariners. He says goodbye with a 2.88 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, 44 strikeouts and 12 walks in 50 innings.
