After a two-year abstinence due to the corona pandemic, the reservist association (RK) is back on a day trip. The target was the Hohenbogen near Neukirchen near the Holy Blood in the Bavarian Forest. He went up to the “Gipfelsteig” with the former NATO listening station of the Cold War.

During the day trip, organized by RK President Hubert Brendel, a stop was made at the Drachensee. Then we continued on to the Hohenbogen valley station. The longest double chairlift in the Bavarian Forest takes you up to 1050 meters above sea level.

At the former NATO listening station, also known as Telecommunications Sector F, it was not only a look into the military past, but also climbed the viewing platform on the main tower listed at a height of 50 meters. It involved climbing 293 flights of stairs to enjoy a view as far as the Czech Republic.

After lunch at the Hotel-Gasthof “Zum Bach” in Neukirchen at the Holy Blood, there was the opportunity to visit the 300-year-old Baroque pilgrimage church “Natal of the Virgin Mary” with the unique double altar in the famous pilgrimage site. Then it was “Das Glasdorf” of the Weinfurthner family in Arnbruck. This offered glass craftsmanship, but also an unparalleled shopping and enjoyment experience. The opportunity to “experience the art of glass up close” in the glass factory, where visitors could admire the traditional glass making at the red-hot furnace, was not wasted. On the way back, a stop at the “d’Wirtschaft” inn in Altenstadt / WN concluded the day for the nearly 30 hikers.
