The annual “Speedmarathon” takes place on Friday. Read here which locations in Hesse and Frankfurt are flashed.
The Hessian police will measure the speed of cars at almost 200 locations this Friday during the Europe-wide traffic action day “Speedmarathon” against speeding at the wheel. More than 500 police officers and employees of participating municipalities are on duty from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., according to several police headquarters. They also announced the respective measuring points, which can be viewed on the website of the Hessen police.
In Frankfurt, for example, drivers have to be prepared for speed cameras on the airport ring, on Ludwig-Landmann-Strasse, on Miquelallee and on Eckenheimer Landstrasse at the main cemetery. However, flashes are not only used in the Frankfurt city area, but also on numerous motorways.

But why do the police announce the “Speedmarathon” every year in advance? The purpose of the campaign is to draw attention to the dangers of driving too fast. The fact that all measuring points are announced in advance clearly shows that it is not about the number of violations, but about reducing speeds from the outset, explained Stefan Jilg, Head of the Traffic Safety and Special Services Directorate at the Central Hesse Police Headquarters and Hessen-wide coordinator of the “Speedmarathon 2023”.
In the event of an accident, the speed at the time of impact is in many cases the decisive factor in whether those involved in the accident are injured, survive or die. The aim is to reduce the number of traffic accidents.
